So you decided you would like to start running. Wonderful. That’s the first step in the right direction. The next step is going to a running store to pick the right running shoes. Yep, do yourself a favor and head to the nearest running shoe store in town, even if you have to go to the next town over. Trust me, your feet and most importantly your body will thank you. Now, I’m not a physician or a therapist, or a coach. I’m not trained in “properly” picking out running shoes, but I encourage you to go to a running store and get fitted and here is why.

I jumped at the chance to visit this Whole Foods Market store because I thought it would be fun for the girls to have one more last minute Back to School Bash! The promise of face painting and a magician was enough to get the girls excited. First stop was picking up a free healthy pre-packed lunch for the girls. The pre-packed lunch consisted of a banana, carrots, diced chicken, kind bar, go-go squeeze and a juice box. Yum!
What kid doesn’t like firetrucks? Apparently my kids. They were more interested in the fire rescue paramedics than the firemen.

Visiting Busch Gardens was part of our “summer fun” bucket list. We decided to go yesterday despite the light rain in the morning. The weather forecast had indicated scattered showers, but really its August in Florida, which means afternoon showers are a given. As we got closer to Tampa, the rain seemed to get a bit stronger, but we were determined and we were not turning around. Once we got to the park, the rain had stopped and blue skies were all around us! We decided to pay the extra $5 for preferred parking just in case we had to leave the park in a hurry due to inclement weather. Coming to the park, I had not printed my tickets, so I went to the window and showed my email ticket confirmation to the attendant. She instructed me to head directly to the entrance where the tickets could be scanned directly from my phone. I’m so used to having paper tickets, and then having to carry them all day. I was very happy I wouldn’t have to do that today.

Some time after school ended, I asked my girls what they’d like to do for summer. They knew they would be going to summer camp for most of the summer, so this list would be additional activities we could do as a family. I never consider myself a procrastinator, but with summer quickly coming to an end, I figured it was time to pull out their “Summer Fun” list.

Tonight we decided to head over to Lakeland to have dinner at the Red Door Wine Market. I heard about the Red Door Wine Market through Fit Niche. They host a 5k pub run on Tuesday nights which starts and ends at the Red Door Wine Market. While I would love to join their pub run, this time I was there with the family. A quick check on yelp, revealed that they are “not” good for kids. I contacted the restaurant before heading there. Their response was that they did not have a dedicated “kids” menu. Was I worried about bringing my kids? Yes and no. Yes, because I didn’t want to bring them to a “bar” but I knew that my kids would find something in their menu to eat. So, I felt confident we’d be ok. Besides, we were headed there at 6 pm so I knew there wouldn’t be too much of a drinking crowd.
Walking up to the restaurant, it is very unassuming place. It’s a little old house with a white tent outside. On this day, the tent was hosting a lot of runners. So we walked right by them to get a sit inside. Can I just tell you, how much I love the decor? It’s a really comfortable setting with wooden floors and original art on the walls. Again, nothing fancy but definitively nice.
